SubDownloader

SubDownloader can perform two main tasks: it can download subtitles and it can upload subtitles. Focusing on the download part alone, it must be said that the application can do so in one of two ways. Select a movie and SubDownloader will automatically search for subtitles; or manually enter a movie’s name and the application will search for subtitles. Once you have the list of results, you can very easily download the subtitles to your PC.

Speaking about things that can be done very easily, installing SubDownloader on a Windows-powered machine is a very simple task and that is a very, very nice thing. Another nice thing is that SubDownloader is also available for Mac OS X, Debian/Ubuntu, Arch Linux, and Gentoo Linux.

There are three tabs in the upper left hand corner of the application’s interface, tabs that correspond to the functionality SubDownloader has to offer:

Search from Video File(s) – select a folder with a movie in it and SubDownloader will automatically search for subtitles for that movie. All found subtitles will be displayed as a list in a panel to the right. You can filter the results by language, you can download the subtitles of your choice, and you can play the movie, but only if you assigned a default video player from Settings.

Search by Movie Name – enter a movie’s name and SubDownloader will look for subtitles on OpenSubtitles.org. The option to filter search results by title is available. Select the subtitles you want to download, and with a simple mouse click you can initiate the download process.

Upload Subtitles – if you want to, you can also upload subtitles. Do this very easily from the appropriately named Upload Subtitles tab.

SubDownloader provides a very simple and quite efficient means of downloading and uploading subtitles.
